The other day I found myself mostly bored and low on energy. As I was going through my Netflix queue I thought, what could I do to pick my energy up again? I thought of:
- going for a run (too much effort)
- going for a walk (still too much effort)
- cleaning the house (who are we kidding?)
- going to get a coffee (even that didn’t lure me off the couch)
Then I thought: KALE! The answer is KALE! You think I drank the kale-kool-aid? Well, not quite yet, but I was on my way.
So, I opened the fridge and found:
- 1 cup kale
- 1 large apple
- 1 tsp honey
- 16 oz water
(I also found chocolate, but let’s just not go there..)
And there was born the afternoon-pick-me-up kale smoothie or the kale-kool-aid.
I blended it all, threw in some ice-cubes and it turned out to be nearly as good as an afternoon margarita. Hm. And that just gave me an idea for next week… 😊
I made this drink less dense and then drank one glass and chilled the rest for later in the day. “Later in the day” became after my walk, because this smoothie really turned out to be a pick-me-up.
