I almost bought a condo in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood in Palm Springs last year and if I then knew what I now know I may have gone through with it…
I could have been neighbors to the stars.
Granted, most of the stars that lived in Palm Springs in the 50s, 60s, and 70s have long passed away, but the thought still counts…
(Note the full addresses of the mentioned houses at the bottom of the post)
The historic Old Las Palmas neighborhood began development in the late 1920s. It has the highest concentration of celebrity homes. Notable architecture styles in this neighborhood are Modernist, Spanish Colonial and Mid-Century architecture.
An example of mid-century architecture is the Miami Vice designer home built in 1954. This house has been used extensively for photo shoots and filming because of its modern unique design.
Ocean’s Eleven (2001) was partially filmed inside this mid-century house in Palm Springs:
Elizabeth Taylor stayed in this house, built in 1924. The estate boasts 10,000 square feet of living space, an Olympic size pool, and 2 guest houses. t is famed to have an air-conditioned dog house.
Country singer “The Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry owned this mid-century home. His wife still lives in this house.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell owned this mid-century house as their vacation home:
Sidney Sheldon, famous for writing and producing “I dream of Jeannie” and writing the screenplay for the TV series “Hart to Hart” and many novels, lived here until his death in 2007:
I like how the palm tress are framing the entrance of Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers‘home:
Dinah Shore once owned this place which is now owned by Leonardo DiCaprio. You can rent this mid-century house from just $3,750 per night.
Nancy and Ronald Reagan owned this ranch-style house in Palm Springs while Ronald Reagan was Governor of California:
How to see the stars’ homes in Palm Springs
I highly recommend to do a walking tour with the Palm Springs Historical Society.
But if you are short on time, here are the addresses of the above celebrity properties. Check them out yourself, but please be mindful of people living there and neighbors.

Wow thank you for introducing us to such a beautiful place. It’s definitely on my go to list! 🙂
It’s fun to visit. Palm Springs has other neighborhoods where film stars used to live. I am planning on walking through them soon, too.
This was interesting! Those are great pictures!
Thank you. It was so much fun walking around and imagining the film stars’ lives in the 50s and 60s.
