“I love the Vasquez Rocks”
Let me tell you about one of my favorite spots, and let’s keep it our little secret!
This spot is close to my heart and close to my home, so I go often and bring friends/family to hike here with me when they visit SoCal. My favorite part of Vasquez Rocks is that normally, when I go to hike here, the whole park only has a few other people in it. It’s not a very well known location for hiking, but is a common location for filming sci-fi movies and show.
The park is so expansive, with numerous trails, hills, valleys and rock formations, you can get lost in there for hours and never see another person. There are so many trail options, that you can hike a new route each time you go.
Just outside of Los Angeles, this is an easy day trip. Pack a lunch and some water and enjoy the day out there. It’s especially beautiful at sunset.
Pro Tip: When you stay to see and hike the sunset, make sure you park outside the park gates as the gates close promptly at sundown, and your car will be locked inside the park all night.
