Is what she said.
When is it too early to have your race schedule set for the first 6 months of the year? January 8th?
My running buddy +Lauren Bogart (check out her adventures training for a triathlon and a marathon over at Sneakers and Swim Fins) has been trying to get me to sign up for the Austin Marathon or Half marathon for the last 2 months. And as you can tell from her training for a triathlon and a marathon at the same time she is full crazy. Now, I am only half crazy (yes, my doctors will agree, but don’t ask my mom). So, finally I caved in and signed up for the Austin Half Marathon happening next month.
I have the suspicious feeling that I may regret this choice… at the very latest, after mile 2 as I am STILL trying to run up South Congress. The medal better be great!
I will just think of all the yummy food I can eat in Austin after the race. Yes, that should get me going!
With the half marathon season starting next month rather than April (as I had initially planned), I need to up my mileage over the next weeks. I ran 21 miles in the first week of January, so I feel pretty good about it. I will try to get a 10-miler in this weekend.
My race schedule is looking pretty presentable for the first half of the year:
- Brazen New Year’s Day 10k at Lake Chabot (completed)
- Austin Half Marathon
- Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon San Francisco
- San Luis Obispo Half Marathon
- Bay to Breaker
- Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon Seattle
I also have signed up for these virtual races/challenges:
- 26 miles in January
- 510 miles from San Jose to Mexico
- 1000 miles to Venus
I see a whole lot of race bling in my future. 🙂
What do you run for?
Food? Medals? Glory?
